This week in Moreno Valley: September 14–20

The City Council meets Tuesday, September 15 in both closed and regular sessions. The closed session will address existing litigation, potential litigation, and labor negotiations with legal counsel, though no details of those matters are public before the meeting. During the regular session, the council will consider ordinances, approve meeting minutes, and hear public comments on matters both on and off the agenda. Residents may speak for up to three minutes on any agenda item by submitting a speaker slip to the City Clerk.

The Moreno Valley Public Library system is running a full schedule of programs for children, teens, and adults this week. Toddler Time meets multiple times at the Main, Iris Plaza, and Mall branches, with stories, songs, and movement for ages 12–36 months. Preschoolers (ages 3–5) can join ABC's & 123's sessions at all three branches on various days to build early reading skills. The Discovery Club, open to school-age children, offers science and math activities through hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Teens ages 13–18 can join The Mix on Wednesday afternoons for book discussions, crafts, and workshops, while Game On! brings video games, tabletop role-playing, and virtual reality experiences to teens and emerging adults on Thursday and Saturday evenings.

Adult programs include Talk MoVal, an English conversation group at both the Main and Iris Plaza branches, welcoming all language levels. Time for Adults invites grown-ups to explore new ideas and activities in a social setting. Pijamas & Stories on Thursday combines English and Spanish storytelling for families with young children. Bilingual Storytime on Thursday at the Mall branch features rhymes and songs in both languages for children under 5.

Creative activities run throughout the week: Family Fun sessions appear at all branches on weekends and several weekdays, offering hands-on projects for all ages with limited space, so early arrival is advised. Space fills quickly at most programs; residents can call their nearest branch or visit in person to register or confirm availability. The Library Commission meets Friday, September 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Main Library to discuss library programs and services.
