This week, Moreno Valley's City Council holds a study session on Wednesday, October 14, to review industrial land use and zoning policy alongside related changes to the Municipal Code's permitted use table. The study session allows the council to examine these matters before any formal vote; residents may offer public comment during the meeting. Agendas and supporting documents are posted at www.moval.org and at three locations in the city: City Hall (14177 Frederick Street), the Main Library (25480 Alessandro Boulevard), and the Senior/Community Center (25075 Fir Avenue). Individuals needing accessibility accommodations should contact the City Clerk's office in advance.

The Moreno Valley Public Libraries close Monday, October 12, for in-service staff training; regular hours resume Tuesday. When the libraries reopen, they offer consistent programming across three branches. The Main Branch runs early-childhood activities most weekdays—ABC's & 123's for ages three to five runs Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and Toddler Time for ages twelve to thirty-six months runs Friday and Saturday mornings. Older children can join Discovery Club (ages nine to twelve) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for crafts, games, and hands-on activities. Teens ages thirteen to eighteen can attend The Mix at the Mall Branch on Wednesday afternoons for book discussions, art, and workshops. Adults can practice English at Talk MoVal sessions Thursday and Friday evenings at different branches, all levels welcome. The Library Commission, which advises on library services and programs, meets Friday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Library's Program Room 2.

Family Fun creative projects run throughout the week at the Main Branch and Mall Branch on different days and times; space is limited at all sessions, so early arrival is recommended. Thursday evening brings Pijama y Cuentos (Pajamas & Stories) at the Main Branch for children under five, mixing Spanish and English through stories and songs. The Mall Branch offers Dragons in the Stacks on Tuesday and Saturday—tabletop role-playing games for adults and teens respectively. Game On!, featuring video games and VR experiences for teens and young adults, runs Thursday at Iris Plaza and Saturday at the Mall Branch.

Beyond the libraries, Building Up Lives Foundation holds Shop for a Cause fundraisers Friday through Sunday, with low-priced household and clothing items; proceeds support the nonprofit's operations. The foundation also distributes free groceries every Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Residents can review library hours and register for programs by calling 951-413-3880 (Main), 951-413-3761 (Mall), or 951-413-3670 (Iris Plaza).
