Moreno Valley sports: week of August 3–9

The Inland Empire 66ers swept Rancho Cucamonga this week, winning all three games in close contests: 6-3 on August 7, 6-4 on August 8, and 6-5 on August 9. The minor-league affiliate stayed sharp throughout the series against its division rival.
The Los Angeles Angels won their first matchup against Miami on August 7 but dropped the next two games, losing 7-0 and 12-3. The Los Angeles Dodgers also finished 1-2 in Arizona, taking a narrow victory on August 8 with a 2-1 win but losing on both August 7 and August 9.
