This week in Moreno Valley: September 21–27

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Thursday, September 24, on a proposal to subdivide 40.17 acres into 293 condominium units in the Aquabella Specific Plan area north of Cactus Avenue. The project includes 22 lots for streets and driveways, plus a 2.68-acre park. The commission will vote on whether to approve the vesting tentative tract map. Residents who wish to testify can submit a speaker slip at the meeting; testimony is limited to three minutes per person.

The Moreno Valley Public Library system is running a full calendar of programs this week across its Main, Iris Plaza, and Mall branches. Toddler Time continues at multiple locations with stories, rhymes, songs, and movement activities for children ages 12 to 36 months. The libraries also offer Discovery Club (science, technology, engineering, and math activities for ages 8–12), Game On! (video and tabletop gaming for teens and young adults), ABC's & 123's (reading readiness for ages 3–5), and bilingual storytime in English and Spanish. Family Fun creative projects run at the Main and Mall branches. Most programs have limited space, and many require registration or encourage early arrival. Talk MoVal, a free English conversation group for all levels, meets Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Main Library and Friday at 5 p.m. at Iris Plaza. Pijama y Cuentos (Pajamas & Stories), a bilingual program for children under 5, runs Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Main Library. Building Up Lives Foundation holds a Shop for a Cause fundraiser Friday and Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 23185 Hemlock Avenue, offering discounted household goods, clothing, and vintage items, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit. A free food giveaway takes place Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the same location.
